Another semi-bluff turn checkraise - PS 2/4
Villain in this hand is very shortstacked. He only had $15 to start the hand.
PokerStars 2/4 Hold'em (6 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is SB with 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. UTG raises, 3 folds, Hero calls, 1 fold. Flop: (5 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, UTG bets, Hero calls. Turn: (3.50 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, UTG bets, Hero raises... I felt like this was a better spot than my previous post as villain could have anything here and I DO have a made hand. Still though, is this a good play? Or no? |

of course it is a good play, he will call you with any two cards here, cant reraise and you are ahead a decent amount of time.

Re: Another semi-bluff turn checkraise - PS 2/4
Let's assume that he has more than $15, for instance, $100.
Is it still a good play then? What's my approach if villain 3-bets? |

Good play, but not a semibluff.

3-bet preflop...your not folding to an all in guy, so it really doesn't matter as all the money is going in...
Against a guy with more chips, I like it, if you can fold to a 3-bet. |

Yeah it is, I have the threes [/ QUOTE ] A semibluff is a play where even if you get called by a better hand, you have a lot of outs to improve to beat that hand. You only have two outs, though. |

Re: Another semi-bluff turn checkraise - PS 2/4
I was being sarcastic, because villain had KK and I spiked a 3 on the river. I obviously outplayed him
Against an unknown with a substantial amount of chips (ie normal), is it safe to fold to a three-bet on the turn? Part of me thinks I couldn't get away from it, thinking he's pushing with overcards or a draw (yet likely not). |

Re: Another semi-bluff turn checkraise - PS 2/4
Do you guys think a turn checkraise is or can be standard here? I usually checkraise the flop, but the more I think about it, the better the turn check-raise seems.

You won't find many opponents capable of bluff-3-betting a turn checkraise. |

Re: Another semi-bluff turn checkraise - PS 2/4
Yeah, becuse usually I identify a flop checkraise with some kind of marginal hand or draw, so if I have air or overcards I will continue to fire on the turn if checked to.
A turn checkraise, meanwhile, will easily get anyone out of the hand with marginal holdings, but it's dependant on the board texture. People will more than likely fold to a turn checkraise on a board like 86T7 double suits than something like K273 rainbow. One particular hand I had 86 of spades. Flop came 572, one spade. Sb bet, I called in BB, button called. Turn came queen of spades. SB bet again, I semibluff raised, button folded, and SB quickly folded. Not a checkraise, but strength on the turn tends to get you the pot right there barring reads. |
