First hand bet more on turn. I probably call the small river bet.

Second hand why did you wait until the turn to raise? I like raising the flop, and if you get 3-bet you seriously consider folding or seeing a showdown for as cheap as possible.

I just had one of these yesterday.

Consensus seemed to be to pot the flop and fold to a big raise.

I would call the river getting 5-1.

I really think you need to call the river in hand 1, there is a good chance you are behind but you are getting almost 5:1 here, I think you are good often enough given the pot odds.

I would be okay with Hero's play here if he wasn't deep-stacked and covered. If Hero was playing for a buyin or less, then this is a ragged enough flop to get a little fancy with, but with two buyins at risk, I think you want information as fast as you can get it.

While we're at it: Maybe this is an idiotic idea. My NL theory is too weak; TaPoNLHE can't get here fast enough, David! But my impression here is that one should be more, rather than less, inclined to protect one's stack with a strong but vulnerable hand like an overpair with deeper stacks, all things being equal. Am I correct?
