Default noob question

At Commerce, it seems that everyone buys chips at the table. I'm going to Vegas in about a week; is it the same there, or do you buy your chips at the cashier and then bring them with you to the table?

Thanks in advance. First time playing B&M outside of Commerce.

Most places you can do both. I would just sit back and let the chips come to you.

well sometimes the floor at the borg makes me buy my chips at the cage before sitting down, so I wouldn't consider this a definite noob thing

I don't see why you should care enough to ask this question here. What difference does it really make? What if you're told that 75% of LV casinos make you buy chips from the cashier- how does it help you until you are at a particular casino and see what they make you do?

When I was in Vegas less than two months ago, 3/4 casinos I visited forced players to buy chips from the cashier and take them to the table. Now what do you do?

When getting on the list for a table, ask whether you buy at a cage or at the table. Different places have different rules: look and ask. Good luck (wish I were there!).

buying chips at the cage is stupid. its pointless.

At a casino where you have to buy at the cage, it may be stupid, but you have no choice. FWIW you can also wait until you're top of the list to buy, so you don't stand around so long with the chips. Also, if they make you buy at the cage, they have to hold the seat for you while you get the chips. It's a pain, but that's the way it is at some places. Complain to the management.
