making a video avatar

so how do i do it ? i have a roughly 5 second video clip that has to become my avatar

Flash is probably the best way but Ulead Gif Animator is a good alternative if you tweak it right :

Yeah just google animated gif. There are plenty of useful free programs out there that will allow you to capture and tweak frames and then assemble the animated gif for you.

I've used one called GIF Construction Set. It's not the best, but you can evaluate it for free and forever with a minor annoying evaluation screen. It's worked well every time I've used it.
