Your straight beats the 2P/set and depending on the river-suit against the flush draw, takes down a pot.

I dont see you getting away from this hand, do you?

i could have folded preflop...
i figured someone for set, and the other 2pr. i couldn't imagine someone calling with diamond draw. maybe villian # 2, but i felt like his lead on turn meant he had made hand (2 pr) that he didn't love but thought he was good with.

You got your money in with the best hand.

Not much else to say really.

Not totally lame.

One of the problems you run into when playing these hands is that often you are only getting action when people are drawing VERY live against you (set to a boat, flush draw).

So when playing these marginal hands (suited connectors) to win a big pot- you need three things to happen.

1) You need to hit a big hand
2) You need your opponent(s) to ALSO hit a big hand/big draw
3) You need to get your money in while ahead AND hope to not get drawn out

These things seem to happen TOGETHER (for me anyway) so infrequently that I wonder if playing these types of hands is really +EV.

So how you played the hand, well that was pretty starightforward, but whether or not you should play the hand at all, that's a good question to be asking.
Just a thought...

Good posting. I think this is why it is recommended to occasionly raise ~5BB PF with suited connectors. That way some of the times you take down the blinds/limps if you have a tight table image.

Luvdem:

what u said really hit home. That is kinda what i wanted to hear from people. I think i played it properly, although i prob shouldn't have played it at all.

Vil #1 shows KQ diamonds for 2nd best flush draw (guess i was wrong, this guy was a freaking moron). Vil #2 showed 2 pr. river = 6 of diamonds. This put me in a tilting mood so i left right after the hand.
