do you call with a gutshot here?
10-20 NL.
You limp with 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] on the button. There are 5 players, pot is $100. Board:T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] One player with $900 behind bets $100. Another, with $3500 calls. You have them both covered. Action is on you, you close the betting. Pot is $300, you need to call $100. |

Re: do you call with a gutshot here?
I think this is a fold as the lead better doesn't have the money you need to make, and if one of them has a draw (likely), you only have 3 outs. Not only that, but a lot of people don't understand that you need better than 10.5 : 1 for a 4 outer, becuase you have to account for the fact that you may hit and still lose to a flush or full house by the river. I'd want st least 15:1 implied odds here, and I'd want to have some type of read on the players (if I could bluff them, if they'll pay me off, etc.)

Re: do you call with a gutshot here?
I think it's marginal, depends really on the players and how I'm playing. I like to be a lot deeper too than just the 900 for the bettor. Also, I'd be more inclined to call a gutshot with 1 over, or 2 overs, or a rainbow board, or something really hard to see, than something like this.

Re: do you call with a gutshot here?
Side note: If you hit, who's paying you? A5? Highly unlikely, unless he was betting with A5d. The best is hitting gutshots which give other players 2nd best hands, this is when I am most willing to call.

Re: do you call with a gutshot here?
i'm guessing you folded, and a 3 hit on the turn, and you said "s.o.b i shoulda called"
This is a fold for long term play, if you chase gutshots, you WILL lose money. Just because you would have hit that one time, does not make it a correct call tom |

Re: do you call with a gutshot here?
If the guy with 3500 was the one who did the betting I might call. I think in this spot though a fold is correct.

Re: do you call with a gutshot here?
Why are you making me limp with 65o on the button? Can I go back in time and fold preflop?

Re: do you call with a gutshot here?
I'm really only interested in the "would you draw to the gutshot?" question.
The poll is getting some interesting results. |

Re: do you call with a gutshot here?
Not to hijack the thread but this is like the millionth time I'm seeing this and it's getting tiresome.
[ QUOTE ] Why are you making me limp with 65o on the button? Can I go back in time and fold preflop? [/ QUOTE ] It sounds like he has over 4k, which would be about 200xBB this limp would be .5 percent of his stack. It is a fine limp. This forum needs to stop playing so damn tight. Besides, if you play so tight, you never get into tough post-flop situations like this one, right? I'm only slightly kidding here, there is some logic to playing hands like this and situations like these forcing you to grow and play better and become a bettor player. |
