Default $0.5/$1 vs. $2/$4 games at Party

How different are these games? How much tougher are the $2/$4 games at Party?

Not much different. Jumping from .5/1 to 2=4 is possible, you just need to adjust to the stakes. I've been at 3-6, and went to 2-4 periodically, and its one of the most passive games around (party 2-4).

I didn't notice any difference from .5/1 through 2/4. It was just a matter of having the bankroll. 2/4 might be a bit more aggressive, but it's just as loose.

3/6 is a big jump. Much higher density of good players and even the bad players aren't usually as bad (VPIP 40-50% rather than 80%).

In my db, over a significant number of hands at both limits, 0.50/1.00 is more than 5% looser in ASF than 2/4.

That is a very significant jump.
