A QJs hand
5/10 Prima, Villain has about 1000 and isn't anything special, a little on the weak side, I have him covered. He makes it 40 to go after a few folds. I call on the button with QJs
Flop comes J78 2 of my suit. He bets 80, I make it 240, he calls. Turn 8 He checks, action? Also, does it make a difference that I have 2.5k, some guy who has been getting hit in the face with cards and playing medicore has about 5k. He is live, he is a large reason as to why I'm playing in this game, I'd play anyway, but I'm always looking to play against him in every hand. I've been doing everything possible to get into pots with him because I think I can outplay him, I've had mixed results, does this matter? |

Re: A QJs hand
Stupid clarification requested: While most people use "weak" to refer to passive players, some people (Ciaffone/Reueben, for example) use it to refer to calling stations while others use it interchangably with "weak-tight" players that will fold too much.
It seems pretty clear that you don't have the best hand at this point, so how often you'll be able to get him to lay down a slightly better hand seems to be the most important consideration here. |

Call a small river bet, make a larger one if you improve. (A jack is improvement enough.) |

Re: A QJs hand
Yeah, should have done that, rather than be an idiot. I thought I could move him off his hand. So I kept firing right away on the turn, bet 300, he checkraises all in, making it like another 300 or so to call. I do, no help, he had QQ.
Pot was like 500 on the turn, anyone bet a different amount? Next time I should check, but if I happen to bet, how much? |

Re: A QJs hand
No offense but it sounds like YOU got outplayed.
You already acknowledged you screwed the hand up so like i said..no offense intended. I just think its wrong to play extra hands against a certain guy to try to "outplay him". One of the reasons you are better than him overall is that you dont make fishy plays like this one. When you do it, just to get in a hand against him, it can sometimes make you the fish. If I was the villian here and you made that same play against me and i didnt know anything about you, I would have "moron" written in the notes box. Especially if I saw you do that more than once. Obviously youre not a moron, but do you see my point? |

Re: A QJs hand
This hand was against a different player. A luckbox with 5k who was live was the guy I watned to play against. The side note was intended to mean, I don't want to jeopardize my stack if I don't have to so that I can maximize my hit when I play against the live 5k stack.
Point taken. |

Re: A QJs hand
i think when he calls your flop raise you're behind like always here with the exception of AKs or AQs. you should check behind this turn and check behind the river too UI. if he bets into you on the river you should fold UI, and a Queen isn't improvement either imo.
