Geometry Question
Imagine a right triangle drawn on a typical computer screen with a horizontal side of 100 pixels and vertical side also of 100 pixels. How many pixels long is the diagonal (hypotenuse) side?

Re: Geometry Question
A computer monitor does not have a "diagonal side". At least any of the ones that I have seen...
I chose 141 because the true answer is 141.42... and since .42 is less than .5, I was told to round down. Technically, it is none of the above since 141.42... was not listed. |

Re: Geometry Question
How can you have 0.42 of a pixel?

Re: Geometry Question
Isn't a pixel made up of an array a teeny tiny lights that you could theoretically have only 42% of turned on?

Re: Geometry Question
A pixel is the smallest unit area of the screen that can be controlled for color or intensity.

Re: Geometry Question
Ok, so I revert back to my other two comments.
#1 There is no diagonal on any screen I've seen. #2 I chose 141 because I was taught to round down. |

Re: Geometry Question
i vote that the question is to ambiguous, you could argue 100, 141, 142, or 199 as answers and make a reasonable case for each

Re: Geometry Question
i put 142 beacuse i wasnt sure if pixels are rounded down or not. It seems that one extra is better than one less in my opoinion. So whats the point? to see if we all passed tenth grade geometry?
