First Notable Downswing - Beat Me Up and Advise Me...

Just had my first notable downswing in my "determined" semi-pro career. 2.25 hours, 45BB...

Tell me I'm a pussy, and that a 45BB downswing is nothing. Tell me I need to get used to swings like that, and if I can't deal with it, I should find a new hobby.

But after you're done berating me for being such a whiny bitch, let me know a few things:

Are losing sessions common? I'm a pretty well-grounded player. I do have trouble when I start steaming, but I try to keep my emotions in check. For the most part, I play pretty TAG, but need to know how often I can expect to be laying on the floor crying because somehow a 6-10o that called my UTG raise sucked out a straight on a A-7-A flop...

I berated a fish today. But I didn't tell him he was a bad player. I just called him an abomination. But I didn't refer to his card playing ability...

I'm feeling a little loopy.

Your first mistake is thinking -45bb is a downswing. Talk about a pretty standard "not good" hour or 2 is more like it.

You better get used to that. 50BB is common downswing, so are losing sessions. Don't berate the fish.

I was -55bb this afternoon...and that's good enough to get me to quit and find another activity for awhile (and perhaps for the day as it's saturday and have other things to do tonight).

I recomend you do the same...you're bankroll/sanity will thank you in the long run...esp considering you're a steamer. I don't even very noticebly tilt and I quit.

I had a downswing on 50BB last night at /24 and picked it all back up and finished up 50BB. The cards will come.

What level do you play at? The lower the limit, the more wild the sings can be. A -45 BB couple of hours is not uncommon at all at low limits. At higher limits I'm sure it happens but less frequently.
