Re: Blind battle, flopped set
Yeah, your flop bet sucks. I can't see how you can bet more of the pot on the river than you can on the flop.
I see your logic here, but I would still make it at least 3/4 pot on the flop. Is it too weak to lay it down on the river. I just can't see villain making that raise without an ace or a six. -Trail |

Hero bets $15, Villain raises to $30, Hero calls $15. [/ QUOTE ] This river action is troubling. The call must be some sort frustration setting in.. |

Re: Blind battle, flopped set
I dont think the 4 was the worst, an ace or 6 would scare me a little more

[/ QUOTE ] They are all scary - whenever there's 4 to a straight and you dont have a straight it's a yucky situation - but it's tougher to believe villain called that bet with a gutshot (Ax or 6x) vs 4x for oesd. although the flop bet was pretty weak, so my argument has little merit here, (as I guess a gutshot doesnt fold) so i guess disregard (and seeing as how villain is weak tight his pf standards prolly contain more Ax then 4x, which means the 4 is probably scarier then the 6 or A..) |

Re: Blind battle, flopped set
yeah, he actually had AK.
crappy flop bet, then when he checked behind on the turn i though maybe, just maybe he doesn't actually have an ace. i probably should have check-called the river rather than bet...maybe even check-fold. the call was me thinking, "maybe he has KK or QQ or JT or..." |

Re: Blind battle, flopped set
no, the blocking bet is good, the call of the raise was bad (Im guilty of the same thing often..)
only reason is i have trouble seeing what bluffs that you can snap off will in fact bluff you, but it's certainly plausibly for him to pay off with a pair+ (worse then set) given it's 1v1 and you only bet pf then bet the flop, which on the river could mean you're not betting with much. |
