Default Miracles do happen

Perhaps. I just thought I would post this in response to one of Sklansky's recent questions in this forum, and because I like to argue. Maybe some prayers do get answered.

Obviously, this article alone is not proof, but does it make me a bad poker player for thinking this might be possible? I don't think so, it's not like I pray to God for him to change my cards or something.

What was that movie Steve Martin was in? Where he was a travelling preacher? Maybe he can do a sequel playing the pope.

The way I see it, miracles do happen but they don't break natural laws. I think the way David sees it is that natural laws must be broken to qualify as a miracle. It's an irreconcilable difference in perspective.

I'm not sure I follow this. Surely if something that one classes as a miracle can be shown to have happened naturally, then it is, by definition, not a miracle.

Tiger Wood’s putt on the 16th could be classed as 'miraculous', but I assume that you’re talking more in the biblical sense.

ya, what he said.

But on another note. why would god make/allow miracles yet he lets so much horrible [censored] happen. Like a ton of little kids are sold into slavery. Other kids are molested, beaten, and so on. Why does god let these kids be slaves, get raped/beaten and decide to cure the other kids sickness? You might say this is part of free will, well what about the other kid who dies of cancer? If he takes an active role in the world, he has a lot of explaining to do. Man I wanna punch god in the face!

If he took an active role in the world, he'd then be called Zeus.

I don't care what the definition of miracle is. I used the word because I presumed that everyone thought it meant breaking natural law. Or doing something that had an incredibly tiny chance of happening naturally. In other words something that only a god could do. He supposedly did it a bunch of times in that tiny sliver of history that the bible refers to. Call it what you want.
