QQ vs. James282
James raises MP i 3 bet from the blinds with QQ.
flop comes A63. i bet he calls. turn is something inconsequential. i check james checks. river is a low card. i check, james bets. i fold. comments? -Barron |

Re: QQ vs. James282
Holy bad river. Bet it and CALL his raise. James will pop those rivers w/o it.
what the hell? Checking and calling is a very fine line. But checking and folding BLEGH very bad. |

Re: QQ vs. James282
Not only that but James is willing to 3 bet the river w/o the ace. Wow. I can't ever fold this to James.

Re: QQ vs. James282
Why don't you bet the turn?
(I haven't played with James, so perhaps there's no meaning to my post) |

Re: QQ vs. James282
I think I see your line of reasoning here...
The way you played the turn indicates you either have a huge hand, are trying to induce, or are just giving up entirely with something like KQ. Regardless, you're letting James know that a bet with something like 99 is -EV, so if he bets the river he's got it. I think this gives someone who presumably plays a lot of tables too much credit, and also think that almost any solid player is going to bet the river almost out of habit alone. |

comments? [/ QUOTE ] What range of hands do you put James on here? OK, now that you've answered that, how sick is that river check-fold? |

Re: QQ vs. James282
I can see what you are thinking here.
pf he doesn't cap, and he calls a flop bet on an A high raggedy board. Pretty much rule out KK, QQ, JJ due to no pf cap. I don't know how James plays, or how he thinks you play, but KQ-KT would obviously usually not call a flop bet. His play is totally consistent with Ax. He doesn't want to get c-r on the turn, but he also doesn't want you to fold, and he might wind up collecting a bet on the river that he wouldn't otherwise. What about a mid pair like 77? I would think that he would have to bet the turn, planning on folding to a c-r. I honestly can't think of a reasonable non - Ax hand that he could have in this situation...so dare I say it...nice play. |

Re: QQ vs. James282
I actually don't think your play is horrendous, I think putting him on a weak ace is perfectly within the realm of reasonable thinking.
Was there a flush draw on the flop? |

Re: QQ vs. James282
Seems like a pretty standard check-call here getting 4-1 here right? Do you really think you're beat more then 80% of the time?

Re: QQ vs. James282
WOW.
I bet this turn short or HU, and see the river no matter what. ESPECIALLY if an Ace Flops... Edited to add: But I may very well be the fish if I'm sitting at a table with James. |
