here is how you value call...

Hero is Button (head's up) with KdKs, raise preflop (for value)

Villain calls.

flop: Kh8d3s

villain checks, hero bets, villain reraises, hero calls (for value)

turn: 2c

villain checks, hero goes all in (for value), villain calls.

river: 2s

is hero good?

Value bet against calling stations constantly. Don't value bet when you think the player will only call (or raise) you if you are beat.

You're playing me and are first to act. It is heads up on the river. You know that I won't call you if I missed my hand, I'm agressive enough to bet out with AK unimproved; you know I will raise you if I made a pair of A's or something. Your most profitable play with a pair of 7's is to check and hope I bluff at it so you can call. Next hand you're playing a calling station who goes way too far and you hold a pair of 8's. You may want to bet for value on the river because you know that a high percentage of time he will call your bet, even with A high "to keep you honest" but will check if you check.

Hope that clears it up some.

EZ check on the river here. It is obvious Villian has four 2's. He doesn't have the proper UV protection to prevent Hero from seeing into his soul. I value call my nuts!

With implied odds of 500,000 to 900, that's an +EV play. Don't forget to notice Villian's skinny little Internet fingers either.
