Default Three betting KK preflop in SSNL

Three betting KK preflop :

Should be done any time you cannot put your opponent firmly on a big pocket pair.

Discuss.

No, the information gained is not worth the price of admission

That line has been used before, it's not original, and I know I've tossed it around alot, but I find it true.

I think your line should actually be 'the raised price of admission is not worth the information given away', because those are two salient points of the discussion. Charging people to play against your better hand and protecting giving away information about your hand.

I only 3 bet when I have a read that indicates a player does not have to have a big pair to re-raise. However, I think that 3 betting against an unknown player is a mistake with 100x stacks. If the opponent is short (~50x or less) then I think it's ok to 3 bet since the money is most likely going in anyway even if he has a weak hand. Otherwise I think that although you will gain value if the opponent is a weak player, you lose a lot more if he is good. So if I don't have a read either way, I prefer not to 3 bet.

The exception... tonight I was at a table with battling lags/maniacs who were always raising and reraising each other. I 3 bet them with Ks without a second thought.

On another note... usually, there's one maniac per table. It was quite interesting watching 2 maniacs go at it all night... one fearless person with crap bluffing another person with crap.

I three-bet KK every time I have it. One time in a tight-ass game that I was getting frustrated with, I three-bet 54s, then went all-in on an ace-high flop with nothing but a gutshot wheel draw.
