Villan had been aggressive, but not in that many hands.

So anyway I checked, he bet 1200 and I called. Not sure what I was doing here, I know I didn't want to lose a whole lot of chips in the hand, and I guess I was scared of the flush - I just wanted to get to showdown. The river was a very ugly queen. I checked again, he went all in and I folded. Badly played?

if you're going to play it like that, just fold after he bets on the flop. you played way too weak. basically your dream card came out and u didn't come for the check raise or anything. as it turned out you probably would have been beaten, but i would have check raised the turn to ~3000

Once he bets 1200 on the turn you need to make your decision. Fold if you think he made a flush, push if you don't.

Man do I hate hands like this. This is a major leak for me as well. When I make my hand, but a hand that beats me is a possible holding.

I think a blocking bet on the turn of maybe half the pot will at least slow him down if he has top pair. As would a smaller check raise, in other words you are really bluffing with what could be the best hand. Because you don't want him to think you don't have the flush. And maybe even pick up a fold (though very unlikely). However when that queen comes on the river you are dead.

This guy has a lot of chips to burn and can afford to put alot of pressure on you here. And there are a lot of hands that have you beat. This is a very tough spot not to play weak.
