Heads up double shootout hands
I lost to my opponent at the first table. I thought he played really well and after a while I just got worked. Thoughts on any of these hands would be much appreciated. I started w/ a lead of 7700 to 5800. Blinds were 75/150. He seemed pretty skilled.
First hand: I get K3 on the button and raise to 400. He calls. Flop is J66 two spades. I have the 3s. He checks, I bet t520 into 800 and he calls. Turn Qs. I check behind. River offsuit Ace. I checked behind b/c I thought he would call a bluff here. He won w/ black TT. 2. I complete w/ 95c. He checks, flop is A77 two clubs. I check behind w/ the flush draw. Turn offsuit K. He bets 400 and I call. River is the 2c. He checks, I bet 800 and he folds. 3. I have a lead of 7400 to 6100. I complete w/ K8h and he checks. 987r. He checks, I bet 300, he c/r to 600 and I fold. Weak eh? But min c/r is usually a big hand. 4. I have a lead of 9500 to 4k. I complete w/ KhQs. He checks. AcTs7s. I check behind. Turn 4c. He bets 400 and I call. River offsuit King. I check behind b/c I don't think he's calling w/ a worse hand here. He shows J6 and I win. 5. I complete w/ A7d, he checks. J52r. He bets 400 and I call. Turn 7. He checks and folds to my bet of 800. 6. I'm up 10.5k to 3k. He minraises to 400 and I call w/ T9. Flop J73r. He checks behind. Turn T. I check and call for 600. River 4, making a backdoor flush. He checks behind and wins w/ AT. I was upset b/c I had just said "ship it" when his cards popped up. 7. I have a lead of 8100 to 5400. 100/200/25. I complete w/ K4 and he checks. Flop K84r. I check behind. Turn 3, he bets 400 and I call. River 8. He checks, I bet 600 and he calls. He has K6 and we chop. 8. He has a lead of 7700 to 5800. He completes and I check w/ K5spades. 933 two spades. I bet 325 and he calls. Turn offsuit Q. He checks behind. River offsuit 7. I bluff for 750 and he calls w/ A9. 9. He raises 3x to 600 and I call w/ 44. T53r. He checks behind. Turn King. I check and call for 800. River is a 7. He checks behind, I win, he had AQ. 10. 200/400/25. I have a lead of 8700 to 4800. He completes and I check w/ 9d7h. 874 two clubs. He checks behind. Turn 3c, flush gets there. I check, he bets 800, I put him all in for some reason and he calls w/ 6c5x for the flopped straight. 11. So now I'm down 9500 to 4k. Very next hand I move in w/ A3 and he calls w/ QQ. Ace high flop but he turns a flush and I'm done. Don't hold back. Let me know how badIy played. |

[ QUOTE ]
2. I complete w/ 95c. He checks, flop is A77 two clubs. I check behind w/ the flush draw. Turn offsuit K. He bets 400 and I call. River is the 2c. He checks, I bet 800 and he folds. [/ QUOTE ] I understand why you checked the flop here, but I think betting is preferable. First, a lot of the time you take it down right there. Second, the pot is bigger those times you do hit your flush. [ QUOTE ] 3. I have a lead of 7400 to 6100. I complete w/ K8h and he checks. 987r. He checks, I bet 300, he c/r to 600 and I fold. Weak eh? But min c/r is usually a big hand. [/ QUOTE ] Folding there is really not good at all. I think you can call, at least look at the turn card. Also I would have raised this preflop. [ QUOTE ] 4. [/ QUOTE ] When you've got that kind of lead, you have to put the pressure on him preflop by raising, especially with hands like KQo and A7s. [ QUOTE ] 7. I have a lead of 8100 to 5400. 100/200/25. I complete w/ K4 and he checks. Flop K84r. I check behind. Turn 3, he bets 400 and I call. River 8. He checks, I bet 600 and he calls. He has K6 and we chop. [/ QUOTE ] Your opponent played this well, you should have been more aggressive on the flop and turn. Put in a bet on flops like this, but also put in a bet on flops that you miss completely. [ QUOTE ] 9. He raises 3x to 600 and I call w/ 44. T53r. He checks behind. Turn King. I check and call for 800. River is a 7. He checks behind, I win, he had AQ. [/ QUOTE ] Betting the turn (and folding if he raised) would have been better than check-calling. [ QUOTE ] 10. 200/400/25. I have a lead of 8700 to 4800. He completes and I check w/ 9d7h. 874 two clubs. He checks behind. Turn 3c, flush gets there. I check, he bets 800, I put him all in for some reason and he calls w/ 6c5x for the flopped straight. [/ QUOTE ] On that flop your hand figures to be best. You should have bet it. Result is probably the same as how you played it. |

Re: Heads up double shootout hands
seems like you are too passive on the button, even though its hard to tell from just a couple of hands.

Re: Heads up double shootout hands
I run into these as well. HU in these is beyond tough, at the first table.
