Default Unlucky or tilt?

No reads. I raised the flop with the intention of calling down if he 3-bets it, but I'm starting to think that was WAY too loose.

That's a tough one, i think I would have played it the same way, but I think you were facing a higher pocket pair.

If anything you underplayed it (though I like your line). This was not too loose at all.

Agreed.

Against an unknown I play it the same way.

You know, mabye i'm the only one who feels this way, but I'd be way more inclined to put this guy on ATs or some other crap (flush draw? i'm constantly surprised that some dueches get aggressive with HU) than a bigger pocket pair. The preflop cap HU is moderately understandable if he is weak, and I'm guessing he is considering the stakes. I would raise the turn, mabye even cap if 3 bet, but just call down when the top board card pairs on river. Agree? Disagree?

Disagree.

If it were kings, I would cap the flop and lead the turn. But it's not kings. If he's being over aggressive with something, let him bluff all his chips away. If you get too carried away and he has a hand, you pay him off big time...if he doesn't you get him to fold and don't win much.

Yep. Way ahead or way behind.

isn't this one of those "maximize your winnings, minimize your losings" type situations?

you beat very few hands that we would suspect an unknown to cap, but it is possible he'd had something like AT, AK.

by check/calling, we're maximizing our winnings against a bluff/unlikely weaker hands, and minimize our losings to a great hand.

This is how I usually play these, unless the guy is super tight and solid, then you might be better off calling down or even folding somewhere. Since there are like, hardly any players that are like that in an online .50 cent game, playing like you did is better.
