Default AJ from EP with KK2 flop

Button was looking slightly loose and mildly aggressive preflop and pretty passive postflop.

Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (8 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is UTG with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
Hero calls, 4 folds, Button calls, 1 fold, BB checks.

Flop: (3.50 SB) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)

Did I have the odds to call here? I figured he probably had the 2 or a smallish pocket pair. 5.75:1 with 7 outs, I think. Three aces, three jacks and the final king, right? (I just didn't buy that he had it.)

the hand didn't remove rake! After the turn call the pot should be 5.25BB as party remove $0.50.

The effect of the rake here actually makes the turn call a loser IF you think they are not betting a naked ace. you're only getting 5.25:1 for your 7 outs against a house.

I would raise it pre flop.

Easy preflop raise, I might fold this flop. The pots woefully small and a semi-bluff isnt worth it.

Raise preflop.

I would have folded to the turn-raise in this rather small pot. Even if doesnīt have the 4th K (obviously he didnīt) you have to spike an A or a J (or a K) on the river to beat his 2 or pocket pair.

That is not a good bet on the flop unless you raise it preflop (which you should). This hand plays completely differently when you raise it preflop. I would actually venture to say that calling here is worse than folding.

Wow, that's a good point...I forgot all about the rake. Also, I really did want to raise this preflop, but I let the SSH tight chart training wheels dissuade me. It's pretty rare for me not to raise AJ preflop. I agree that would have made the hand much easier to play.
