Default Building a bankroll at PP .50/$1?????

Hello. I have been fairly succesful at NL poker online for a little over a year now, and have recently tried to tune my game and play limit regularly. I have made this shift for many reasons; it is a more mathematical game, in many situations there is a "right" and "wrong" play (+EV and -EV); the swings are lessened, due to the structure (a suckout cannot cost you your entire stack); your stats are easier to keep, as is your success rate; etc. Anyways, back on the topic. I have taken a bankroll of about $200 and deposited it on Party, with the intent to start at .50/$1 and move up when I have about 300x BB of the next level ( I started out with about 50 bucks, got up to around 250 playing 1/2, moved to 2/4 (yes I realize this was too large for my bankroll) and took a downswing to around the 200 I am at now). So, I took a look at the .50/1 game today and IT IS A ZOO. People were showing down (winning) j4 suited, q3 off, 92???? I saw a pot with 7 people on the flop, 5 on the turn, and 3 at showdown and the winner was a PP of 4's!!!????? My question is for those of you who have climbed the limits ladder, can you build a bankroll playing .50/1???? Is this a bad place to start? Do I need to make adjustments??? Lemme know, thanks.

It is certainly possible. Read the FAQ, it's a good starting point. Remember, your money is made through the fish playing too many hands poorly, whereas you will play less hands better.
Also variance can be a bit of a pain in limit. 50BB downswings aren't particularly uncommon and can run to 100BB even when playing perfectly.
To learn, read the posts, buy the recomended reading and start from there. Good luck.

btw; i'd be bonuswhoring my heart out with $200 bucks. See a newly posted building a bankroll guide. Do a search and you'll probally find it.
Good luck

Can easily be done by a winning player, but bonus whorring will get you there quickly and safely.

Good advice in general.

Downswings can run significantly more than 100BB even when playing perfectly.

I built my bankroll starting at $.02/.04. So starting at .5/1 is certainly possible.

I learned from GregJ, and started at Stars mini's. And there are now quite a few of us at PP .5/1. Very doable.

Started out at Prima with 15 free bucks promo. Started out at their lowest limits and havent looked back. Its a small point of pride that I have never deposited any money of my own.

Yup I started at 0.02-0.04 and I'm currently over bankrolled at 0.50-1.00 It's definitely possible.

not to hijack this post, but I have a question related to swings in limit that others mentioned. I played NL until recently when I found that limit cash games were more enjoyable.(although I still play NL tournaments) Part of the reason I switched is that I didn't like the swings in NL, it just made the game frustrating instead of fun. The thing is, I never had a downswing of 100 big blinds over a short period of time. It sounds like the swings in limit can actually be worse. Is this true? At any rate, even if I am losing in a limit game it certainly doesnt feel as bad, because its its over time and the cards have to "conspire" against you more to significantly affect your stack.
