Backing myself into a corner, villain gives me options...
Any other suggestions on this play?
1/2 NL 100 Max buy. Hero has ~220 Villain has ~180 Read on villain? Seems commited preflop when calling a reraise after limping. Passive post flop. Hero is UTG with AcKc. Hero bets 10. Villain is MP1 and calls. 3 Additional Callers. Pot: 53 Flop: 5c 3h Tc Hero bets 40. Villain calls. Pot: 133 Turn: (5c 3h Tc) 5d Hero checks. Villain bets 40. Hero calls. Pot: 213 River: (5c 3h Tc 5d) Jh Hero checks Villain checks Results and analysis in white: Hero shows AcKc for Ace high. Villain shows KT off for pair of tens. Hero was expecting a free card on turn. But instead got a 4:1 offer on the draw. Hero couldnt put Villain on a hand which killed his own aspects of pushing. |

this is a great hand to checkraise all-in with.

You're going to check/raise all-in on the turn when you may be drawing dead and villain will only have to call another $100 into a $210 pot? I am very interested in your rationale, because I am closer to folding than raising on the turn here.

lol
the flop my friend, the flop
- the action is 5 way - he can easily represent missed AK/AQ - someone is very likely to bet - he has a great hand for getting it in on the flop - the pot size to stack ratio is good for this play on the flop - he's got good fold equity in hi push in that he has th betting pattern to make an overpair feasible - the pot is big enough such that someone with TP or an overpair has a good onus to win it there, a villain will likely bet if he has anything to try and take the pot then etc. fim PS- i feel like you and soah are my own personal copy editors. im going to have to stop unchecking the "i want to preview my post" box. |

Re: lol
Just confused because he bet the flop and then had an opportunity to check/raise the turn and you recommended check/raising. But yes, your clarification post sounds good. Your posts are great, so just write more.

Re: Backing myself into a corner, villain gives me options...
Actually, I just thought more about this, and realized I wouldnt get a decent sized bet into that pot. The table was making funny little bets into these large pots...so at best, if I check the flop, I get a 10 dollar bet by the kid with the pair...and I cant check raise that all in, right?
Second question: With the current line... Pushing instead of checking on the turn is retarded, eh? |

Actually check/raising all in even with a smallish bet on the flop is fairly natural. There isn't really a smaller bet which doesn't leave ridiculously small stacks in relation to the pot on the turn.
