Default Has anyone ever had a good experience with pokerchips.com???

I want to order some new chips soon, I'd like clay and my two choices are no artwork edge spots from PC.com or james bond paulsons. At 250 for 500 I'd go for the pokerchips.com as I'd have to save up some cash for the paulson's but I keep hearing these horror stories about people ordering from pokerchips.com and not receiving them for months. My question is has anyone ever ordered edge spot chips from them and received them within a reasonable time frame? If not I might just save up for a while.
Thanks,
Matt

I have an order in with them, and I expect to wait 14 weeks+ to get my order. It has been over 2 weeks and I haven't even gotten my first artwork proof yet (though this does not delay the order at all)

They are VERY busy, so therefor when you place an order there are still many other orders ahead of yours. However, for the price, the quality and the fact that you can pick colors / edgespot colors can not be beat.

So your choice is to either save for the Paulson JBs (which are amazing chips, but mass produced) or weather the 14 week wait and get a custom set to your specifications. I've seen endless complaints about the wait from pc.com, but not a single complaint about the chips once people got theirs.

So it really comes down to personal choice, you have to do whatever you feel is right for you. For me it was pc.com. I have a 750 piece custom set ordered with custom artwork and edgespots. I hate the wait, but I am willing to go through it because I am confident that in the end I will have a set I will be proud to own and pass down to my daughter.

I was told the same thing from the Graphic Artist "Kim". However once my artwork was approved, I was told by the customer service people that now the countdown began and I would expect a delivery date of 14-16 weeks from that point.

I would suggest you call the graphic artist and be prepared to do a lot of the work yourself as she is very busy. The more complete your insert design is the better off you are.

If what they told me is correct, my delivery should be sometime in early June.

I asked several different people several times if the artwork not being in yet would delay the order and was told that it wouldn't by every one of them.

Kim no longer works there, their new graphic artist is Natalie. She is pretty buried right now though.

Well, production is 10-12 weeks from the time your final artwork is approved, trust me. I'd just call Natalie at least once a week to get a status update. Be sure to stay on top of it and her work. From my dealings with her, she's just trying to crank out as many orders as possible, and the attention to detail just isn't what it should be, IMO. I am happy with my final results so far.

Since you're already ordering 750, you may want to consider bumping that up to 1000 total for only ~100 more. They'll give you a 10% discount when you order 1000 chips if you ask for it.

I posted this in another thread yesterday:
[ QUOTE ]

I ordered my chips on 9/15/04 and they came last week -- and mine have no inlay. In other words, it took them six months to deliver from the time I placed my order, even though they promised me that I would receive them by the end of December. I began hounding them in January (I called about once a week, always with a friendly tone), and constantly received false promises that my chips would be on the next truck. They were out of several colors of clay, and I had to change one of my chip selections as a result (or wait another two months!).

They also made a mistake, and sent 200 of my chips with the wrong mold. I got 800 horsehead and 200 roman mold . I have returned the 200 roman chips, and god only knows how long I will have to wait for them to send me what I ordered.

I must say, the chips are fantastic, and I am very pleased with them. But, all in all, the service was very poor. They seem ill-equipped to handle the increase in business that has accompanied poker's rapid rise in popularity. If you order from them, I would expect a long wait, and many false and/or optimistic predictions by the customer support staff.

Not that I know of... X-Files order was 16 weeks!

I don't know if I'd call them horror stories as most know the wait times going in... though I guess some are told 10-12 and it ends up being 14-16 but still it's pretty well known that their lead times are ridiculous... almost as ridiculous as not offering multicolored edge spots.

This is correct. The work on your chips starts after the proof is finalized. I have no experience with graphic design. I thought I sent in an image of what I wanted on my chips. They came back with "I don't know how to do that". My graphic was not difficult at all. Luckily, I found someone who knew Illustrator very well and he did the work for me in under a day. Since then, I have gone back and forth with Natalie with changes which seems to take a lot longer than it should. I asked for a simple denomination under my design (ie - "$100") and she still has not gotten back to me yet.

Like SpaceMonkey suggests, keep calling and sending emails. I'm %95 happy with the design right now, just want to finally get the order completed so I can hopefully have them by the summer.

Mine came almost 3 months do the day from final art approval. I love em, but the day I got them the indian casino started dealing poker so I never really use them anymore.

Anyway, I really doubt you will regret it once you finally get them.
