last minute cheap airfare....

trying to figure out the last minute cheap airfare thingy...

I know that sometimes, if a plane is half full and you want to take a flight at the last minute, you can usually get a cheap tkt. In fact, I thought I heard about an airline that occasionally sold "mystery tickets" for 79 bucks that you'd be able to take a getaway to a fast location for a couple days - if they don't sell, the seats are empty.

but trying to find anything last minute, even on empty planes, seems to be twice as expensive as doing it weeks in advance - any ideas as to where to go to get bargain airfare at last minute...

keep in mind, sometimes destination is irrelevant. I just need to get the hell out of here sometimes.
