Default AQs hand - need some assistance please

Read on button is a pretty solid player, somewhat passive, but experienced enough to make blind steal. BB is a newer player, a bit loose and passive.

No-Limit Hold'em
$1/2 BB (8 handed)

SB ($23)
Hero ($24)
UTG ($45)
UTG+1 ($12)
MP1 ($81)
MP2 ($11)
CO ($53)
Button ($52)

SB posts a blind of $1. Hero has A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and posts a blind of $2

Preflop: UTG folds, UTG+1 Folds, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, CO folds, Button Raises $4
Hero calls $2, SB calls 1$, BB folds.

Flop: ($12) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, CO checks, Hero ?

Aren't those stacks kinda small for 1/2NL? And how does the CO act before you do on the flop?

If CO is aggressive I would check it to him and then if/when he bets, push all-in.

If he's not I would just push.

He wasn't aggressive and so I did push. He showed me KK. I still felt like I did the right thing.

Thanks for the feedback.

very short stacks for 1/2.

on this hand, basically assign a range of hands that villain would minraise preflop with. if there are multiple hands aside from AA, KK , QQ that he does this with, you can bet the flop. Otherwise, you should fold preflop even to minraise if its just AA, KK, QQ, AK that he minraises with.

If you believe his hand range also include things like KJ, KQ, AJ, etc...you can try reraising preflop. although with stacks that short, its tough to reraise and then miss the flop.

Agreed. It's a weird home game set up. I kind of hate it and prefer playing with the better online structure, but we're all friends so I go occasionally.

The villan was a solid player, but given his position, it felt a lot like a steal move. This is why I felt I needed to call preflop. Post flop, I had to act first (despite my messed up hand history in original post) and given my stack, pushing seemed right.

Thanks for the feedback.
