I'm in the BB with 75s. About 4 of us see a flop. Flop is J7J. I bet out, get raised by a player I know little about, I call. Turn is a 7, I check, he bets, I call. River is a blank, I check, he bets, I call?
Thoughts on all streets? I feel like betting out is suspect, but at the same time I have a hard time not. I wonder if that's a little of the 6 max in me left talking. On the turn I'm thinking that absent a read I don't feel like going crazy with a potential underboat, but I feel like that's too passive. |

Well...hopefully he had 88-TT.
Can't really see what betting out accomplishes, other than you getting three bet. Sarge[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] |

How bout checking the flop hoping a late position player bets and go for the check/raise. There are obvious flaws to this (bet comes from EP or it checks through), but I don't see it as being much better or worse than betting out. Bottom line, playing this hand out of position sucks.
Other than that, I call down the turn and river as well. |

I think this is fine. He would probably just call the flop with a J. So you're likely either chopping or ahead of some middle pair. I would consider raising the river but I would hate to be 3-bet since I'd have a very hard time laying it down. Actually I'd probably bet out on the river and call a raise. Hands you beat are very likely to check the river through.

It's good. Why fold a hand that you beat?

To be very clear "I call?" wasn't- "should I call". It was "should I have raised".

I know. Why raise the turn and fold a lone pair?

Way ahead or way behind Dibs... I think you played it fine. You might lose to a J... but it's not like you went off for 4 BBs or anything. Plus, most typical players would wait to raise the turn with trip J's.
Don't forget that sometimes checking and calling is the correct strategy even though it isn't agressive, power poker or whatever. |

Then again they probably don't call so why bet. *friggin ping pong match in my head* These way ahead way behind hands seem to be creeping up all the time now..... crux of poker i suppose. blah. no reponse needed Checking is the better play on the river Sarge[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] |
