It's highly recommended to create a GMail (Google Mail) account for use with PT, because it's free and they allow free POP3 access, which makes PT much happier.

"We're currently only offering Gmail as part of a preview release and limited test. We don't have details on when Gmail will be made more widely available, as that depends in part on the results of the test. If you're interested in receiving updates on Gmail, submit your email address using the form at the bottom of this page."

Other ideas?

It is relatively easy to import hand histories with Yahoo but it seems to exclude about 25% of the hands. I believe this is because on line-wrapping. Make sure you change your line-wrap defaults in Yahoo mail to minimize the damage. My PT stats are skewed in that it shows more profit than I really have....

You can get Yahoo POP mail but you'll still get the line wrapping problems and it will cost you $$$.

I don't have access to Outlook but evidently lots of PT users go to www.hotpop.com and use this free POP service with their Outlook. I'm not sure how this works...

I use Yahoo! and PokerTracker and have had no problem at all. It's not exactly fun to copy/paste all your hands to Notepad, but it's not hard at all.

The PokerTracker help section explains very well how to set up Yahoo! "line width" in order to minimize problems.

Very easy, no problems. Good luck.

ack! You really don't want to have to do this. I did this briefly (very briefly!) and its a pain in the ass.

Instead, there's a free application that provides POP3 access to Yahoo! Mail called yahoopops.

http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/

Basically you run yahoopops, open Outlook, and Outlook can grab your yahoo mail through this program and have it show up in your Outlook inbox. Than just have PT query your inbox every 15 minutes (or whenver) to import the data.

I had it setup so that Yahoo filtered all mail from Party into a Party folder. And than Yahoopops only grabbed the emails in my Yahoo Party Folder and dropped them into Outlook. It worked beautifully.

Now, of course, I just have PT import all my hand histories locally.

I use Yahoo Mail plus and it works perfectly in Outlook Express.

Regarding Gmail, Gmail doesn't offer Pop3 access. It's web access only.

Hmm, on the GMail website, it says they offer free POP3 access. Maybe that's a future feature they haven't implemented yet?

Good stuff! I'll have to check this out. I can see this copying and pasting getting old after awhile.
