Protect my mediocre hand correctly?

I figured that with 8 opponents this would be considered a large pot and I should protect my mediocre top pair from the weak draws. How was the turn play? I feel like maybe I should have checked the turn and folded to a river bet, but maybe that's too weak. I have a lot of trouble not betting out on the turn after having raised the flop thinking it will throw up warning flags to everyone that I have a marginal to weak hand.
