Default Best book/software/website for a beginner?

Hi guys, I'm glad I found this site, it seems like online gambling an excellent way to supplement my income and maybe even become my only job if I get good enough. I have a crappy job right now so the potential $$ in gambling is much better, especially since I can work/play at my convenience.

I was wondering what materials I should start with as a total beginner. I am trying to learn from this site but it's difficult because I don't even know a lot of terms used, and I think I should start somewhere else before reading the more advanced material here. I do have some money to spend though I would prefer to save as much as possible for my bankroll. Any suggestions?

Thanks
og5

You have found the best web site so don't bother looking any farther. There is a beginner forum where ther are no stupid questions. Also, you can read through the archives.

if you're serious about getting good, there are a few books that are must-buys, you may as well get 'em all:

Small Stakes Holdem
Winning Low Limit Holdem
Theroy of Poker
Holdem Poker
Holdem Poker for Advanced Players

and (imo) supersystem is still required reading.

as far as on the web:

this site is going to be your best resource
cardplayer.com has all of their articles archived
Pokerpages.com has a lot of interesting articles by pros, some more entertaining than helpful, but there's some good stuff on the math involved in poker there (imo)
the RGP archives are good.
pokertracker software is very helpful as well- download the trial version at least.

but the best way to get good is to play. don't dive right in, read a little, play a little, repeat.

i hear a lot about internet texas hold'em, but i didn't really like it that much (i did only read the portions available online). not trying to hijack here, but can someone explain to me why that book has gotten so much word of mouth?
