Im coming down to LA for the month of Feb to the Commerce tourney to donate my BR to you guys in the tourneys and the 40 game. [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

What is the best way to get 30K or so into the cashier at the club? I have an account at BofA with the money in it, but dont want to be:

1. Carrying around that much cash (from bank to club).
2. Stopped on my way out the bank door by the FBI cause Im moving that much dough.

are you flying internationally? If not you'll likely not have a problem. A sportsbetting pal of mine has had the advice given to him that there is not a lot they can do if they aren't Customs (Federal) agents and the flight isn't international. If you are flying into Las Vegas and you have a lot of money on you, someone is likely to sigh out of boredom. Large amounts of money are not a big deal out there. My friend, also has had a letter from an Attorneys office (not sure his relationship there) drawn up stating that the letterholder is a professional gambler and carries
substantial cash in accordance with his profession.

Any lawyers on the forum that can chime in on this?

Do your bank and the FBI share offices? Carrying cash is not a crime.

Call Commerce, they have banking services. Or get a cashiers check.

If the flight is domestic, then the answer is: more than you have.

You can carry as much money as you want in the United States -- it's not a crime. Internationally flying restricts you to under 10,000.

I would suggest that you transfer the money not out of legality or being hassled, but rather avoiding the random thing like losing your money / getting mugged / whatever. You'll travel much calmer without so much on you -- simply call ahead and arrange a wire transfer. Your money will be safe when you arrive.

I know there is nothing illegal about carrying a lot of cash domestically, but I heard somewhere that if you have a lot on you, they will backroom you and try to make you provide some sort of documentation as to why you have it.

I remember this happened to the guy that won the Foxwoods WPT last year. (not that I'm gonna be carrying 2 million, but I just want to make sure I'm not going to get hassled if I have ~20k in my pocket)

To be precise, 10k is the most you can carry internationally without declaring it. It is not illegal to carry more, as long as you declare. (Not that I have!)
