Re: When playing another 2+2er....
Remember that the oft-quoted "10 times Big Blind" rule applies not only to your stack, but the stack of your opponent.
Ilya was kind enough to show you why, and even explain it to you, which; apparently he likes to do a lot. Also, you could have relied on another tried and true raising rule: "raise an extra big blind for every chat box entry your opponent has made." I realize that there aren't enough chips in play to allow anybody to apply this rule with regard to Ilya... but it's a helpful guide nonetheless. Irieguy |

Am I really notorious for table coaching a lot?? Or are you just making fun of me based on the chat for that hand? My dad's a professor and my mom's a tour guide...I have to swim against the current to keep my mouth shut... Anyway....Scuba, I had TT. P.S. Who's mowrmowr?! P.P.S. Wait, Irie, I'm kinda confused...what are you talking about? No one in this hand has <10xBB... |

Re: When playing another 2+2er....
You played it perfectly. He knows you are a tight player in the early levels, and yet he calls 1/3 of his stack, and then pushes on the flop? You have plenty of chips to call him and your range of hands is likely AA-JJ or AK-AQ. He has to know this. Therefore, I can't imagine this is a bluff.
Sadly, I read the post where he admits to having TT. Since he is a good 2+2 style player, what else could he possibly have? 88-99, maybe. Anyway, he is betting his whole stack that you have AK. Unfortunately, he was right. You could have just as easily had AA, KK, QQ, JJ, or AQ. He gambled with a short stack and was right, just tip your cap and move on. |

Re: When playing another 2+2er....
Ha Ha Ha.
I couldn't get ILYA to tell me what he had. Anyhow, I wanted to make sure he had chips for levels 4 and 5, so I could "give him the business." One thing I love about playing 2+2ers ...you know they'll fold to almost all bets on levels 4 and 5. And Ilya was positioned perfectly 3 spots to my left. I guess I should say "hey, thanks bud." |

Re: When playing another 2+2er....
Seriously now, reflecting more on this hand...
Knowing my opponent the way I do, with AK, I probably should fold this hand Preflop. His range of hands, probably are AK, AA, KK, QQ, JJ. What do you think? |

Re: When playing another 2+2er....
This post that starts with "seriously now" is a joke, right? I'm just waking up, so I can't tell.
In case it's not a joke, you raised and he called preflop, right? (again, I could be misreading.) Means you didn't have an opportunity to fold, unless you wanted to do it at your first action. citanul (without sense of humor since 1/20/05) |
