which video card out of these?

I have 2 ESA 19 inch monitors with 1600 by 1200 resolution. I want to hook up a dual monitor setup.

are you playing games? or just poker? do your monitors have DVI?

for just poker, go with the cheapest one that supports 2 tuners. 32MB is fine for poker.

I don't know any of that stuff. Just playing poker. Someone who knows a little computers around school was asking me those dvi questions, and I had no idea. Also, in the store they said most don't support 2 monitors, so I wanted to make sure I get the right one.

They don't have DVI if they're not LCD. A 50$ dual-head card will work and come with a DVI->VGA convertor.

XFX nVIDIA GeForce 6600GT is, by far, the best bang for the buck available on the market. It is also Dual DVI, so if you have (or get) two LCD monitors you're all set.

Damn! I don't think I want to pay more for the video card than I did my monitors. Why is it so much better than a $50 one?

I am assuming you have old CRT (big bulky) monitors? if so, you prob. have old-style pin connectors on the back.

if this is the case, you don't need DVI now. those expensive video cards are basically exclusively for hard core gamers.

I would buy a cheap card, like this one which you can hook to 2 VGA monitors too (again, which I am asusming you have).

the downside is that if you buy a snazzy new LCD, it may not be able to hook up to this card.

the trouble is that I am looking for a card that has 2 VGA hookups (to suit you now) AND DVI hookups (in case you buy an LCD in the future) and I can't find anything.

OK, please don’t get offended here.

If they are low end monitors on an old or low end system, then that card would be overkill. If that is your situation, click on the place on the left of the newegg site where it says “Ports - Standard VGA(D-Sub) and select “2". Most any of those cards should do it for you, in a “good enough” way.

If you have a more recent system and want a card that is going to last you for a few years, and that will drive some better monitors in the future, go for the nVidia 6600.
