Re: micro-limits
Their game plan is that they don't like money, and they'd rather you have it. You should be glad they're there.
Oh, and less bad beat posts like this would be good. The best way to contribute to the forum is to post hands you're having trouble with (not just random bad beats, but hands that have you feeling puzzled) and join in with giving advice to others. Even if you put your foot in your mouth (as I've been known to do on a fairly regular basis), you'll still learn something. Posts like this usually just get responses with links like this. Re: micro-limits
win fewer (maybe) but bigger pots..play hands that are better multi-way, more suited connectors and small pairs. Bet for value. Realize that there's a ton of variance in this kind of game. etc etc.
Or move up limits to where they respect your raises. |

Re: micro-limits
the game plan is to have a large enough bankroll and take advantage of their poor play. Don't take each hand personally, look at the long run. Don't say "hey I have AA, I really better win this one". Just say "As long as I play this premium hand properly, in the long run, the hand will bring me the money"
The winning player makes his money because of the poor play of others, not in spite of it. |

I was kind of curious to see answers myself. Hopefully some better thoughts will come.

I was kind of curious to see answers myself. Hopefully some better thoughts will come. [/ QUOTE ] well what exactly is your question? How to handle bad beats and swings? How to play in loose games? See one is a mindset question and one is a question of actual tactics. No matter what you are asking, you came to the right site. Don't worry so much about a particular question, some don't get answered at all. surf the site, go to the beginners forum, read the books and software forum, post specific questions in this forum and learn from others. Also, utilize the search function. When in doubt, ask in the beginners forum. |

You may be playing too passively, and basically *allowing* the bad beats to happen. |

Re: micro-limits
a few thoughts -
- change your concept of the game. just because they play crap hands in crap positions for multiple bets, does not mean they can't win any given hand. nor, in many senses, do you want them to lose every hand. - avoid the egoistic perspective (is that even a word?) we tend to focus on our hole cards, and think "how dare -you- beat -me- with your offsuit trash". or "i am getting killed by their running straights...". it clouds proper thinking about the game. -realize that poker is a game where the better player will always come out ahead...in the long run. wrap your head around how long the long run is, and, well, it's long. -realize that if you play every hand correctly you will make money. if your opponents play hands correctly you lose money. it is really that simple. and realize that while it seems you will make more money if you are, 1.suffering less ridiculous beats or 2. playing against better opposition, those ideas could not be more false. -t |
