I can give you my update. Ron Rose busted me out of the tourney about 3 hours ago.
While the structure was not as good as a normal 10k event, it was by no means a bad one. It was still much better than most random poker tourneys by a fair margin.

[/ QUOTE ] This entry reminded me again of chess (amazing how many chess/poker paralells you can find), as Negreanu's comments are just like many top players' complaints in chess, where some tournaments have changed the fairly standard 40/120 + 20/60 + G/30 format to a shorter, but still 'long' 30/90 + 20/60 + G/15 (with an additional 30 seconds per move) time control. Some players complain that it's too short and ruins the chance for great games, which others seem to think it's just fine - it really comes down to style, in both cases. In the end, it shouldn't effect who the top players are too much. I'm sure pros can adjust within a tournament or two (although Daniel seemed pretty turned off, saying he might not play in many of these events).
