Well I'm guessing your thinking process was as follows.

He raised the flop and took the free card on the turn which is often a draw of some kind. Here the most obvious draw is a flush which is also the draw you have. And seeing as there is only one other hand that has a flush draw on the flop and you still beat (24 of clubs) you figured your best bet was to try and induce a bluff if you are ahead and simply call a bet if you are behind to a possible higher flush.

This thinking has some merit to it but I think I would bet and call raise because your bet looks pretty fishy and he might try a bluff raise on the scare card that hit or simply call to look you up. This way you make sure at least one bet goes in and you don't have to worry about getting 3-bet. I'd need a read to make your play.

I see people check behind on the turn with made hands all the time, so I bet the river.

Bet the river, people check made hands on the turn because they don't want to invest more because there is a couple of draws out and they are afraid to lose more when they hit, however they will pay off with A or 9 or J on the river, also bad agressive players will raise on this scare card.
