Re: Reviewing my losers from last night, #1
I would play it the same way, it's pretty standard.
Also no way am I folding this preflop on the button. |

Nice hand.
Don't fold KJo on the button, IMO. EP = instamuck, but in back it's worth a play. -Brian |

I think that a much bigger problem is the post flop play. Raising the flop in this spot is almost certainly incorrect.

Call and raise a blank on the turn, right?

[ QUOTE ] Raising the flop in this spot is almost certainly incorrect. [/ QUOTE ] Why? [/ QUOTE ] It has to do with pot equity edges. You might have a small one on the flop, but certainly you'd have a huge one on the turn if a brick falls. Thus, you pass up a smaller edge in order to take advantage of a huge edge on a later street. |

Re: Reviewing my losers from last night, #1
I was thinking more along the lines of...I have a pretty average hand and A) I don't really wan't to get 3-bet on the flop, B) I don't want to get check/raised on the turn, C) If a bad card falls on the turn, I can get away from this one and D) I can fold if it is two cold to me on the turn.
I always take the weak-tight approach , but I have been finding that pushing monster hands on the flop and mediocore hands on the turn (when you really can't protect it on the flop) has been the best way to go. Most players wait until the turn to raise really good hands, so you flop call/turn raise looks like a monster hand. Brad |
