Default Tourney Hand....

Late in live tourney, 6 left, top 4 get paid.
UTG: weak, tight player. limps with many hands, he's laid down to a raise often.
SB: Me
BB: Solid player.

I am 2nd stack with 28K, UTG is short stack (10K), BB has 14K (middle). There is one other big stack (35K) and two other small/medium stacks (12-15K).

Blinds are 1K/2K, $100 ante.

UTG limps. Folded to me in SB.
I have AJ suited. I raise to 6K.
BB reraises all in 14K.
UTG folds.

$22,600 in pot, $8K for me to call. Getting almost 3 to 1 on call.

I think the pot odds say call here, but if I lose, I'm down to 18K (instead of 26K) and am back in the mix with the other short/medium stacks. If I win, I have 48K and am the big stack.

One of those tough ones where the pot odds say yes (unless he has AA I have a shot) but maybe the stack situation says fold.

Appreciate your thougths......

I think this is a call.

Presumably the BB knows that you know that UTG is weak tight. Thus he knows that you could be on a steal, and your hand need not be that strong. This in turn broadens his range of reraising hands. As he is laying you 3-1, he must expect you to call, and thus you can be sure his hand is not trash, but he could be doing it on 66+, KQ+, AT+. Also, folding to the reraise would not be good for your image.

easy call. you're probably better than 50/50 to be ahead (unless you've been super tight about raising), and with the ridiculous pot odds there's no way you can fold.

Yep, I called. He fliped over AKo. I got two spades on the flop but never got there on my flush. Hurt my stack and put me back with the pack, but I agree I made the right call. Just tough to give up those chips. On the good side, I went on to win the tourney, my first big tourney win. Thanks for the input, just wanted to make sure.....
Good luck.
