Default 18 down south...

Ok, on a contrary note to all the other underage players trying to sneak into cardrooms, I have a different question.

Does anyone know of any cruises or private poker rooms down in the south near Georgia or Florida?

I am in mid-Georgia, but a friend of mine (also under 21) are looking for a casino or casino boat that holds a low stakes no limit game. The best thing I've found is the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa, FL, but all they offer is 1/2 limit. Since neither of us plays limit this would surely result in a poor time (maybe I should just go ahead and learn limit :P). Anyone have any suggestions? We're willing to drive about 8 hours max, so South Carolina, Alabama, and Florida are options. If anyone knows of any a little further, Mississippi or North Carolina, please tell me the city and I will look up the travel time.

I play at the Suncruz Casino boat in Port Canaveral. The one I play at features good dealers, high rake and soft games. There is one in Jacksonville right by the Mayport ferry, it looked smaller when I went by there though. 18 and up to sail and play. They have at least one boat in SC too, don't know about GA. suncruz

Do they hold any cash games on the SunCruz in Canaveral? We can find tournaments up here. We had looked into most of the SunCruz boats and decided on the one in Jacksonville because they are the only one that offers a poker room.. but we are looking for more.

Yeah they have cash games, mostly 5-10 some 10-20, no limit game almost every night now. It's 5-10 blinds, max buy-in 600 each time. They also have tournaments a few times a week but definitely cash games every day. I think your best bet is the one in Jax though

Sounds great guys.. these games are a little high for my baby bankroll, but I might consider going down with a buy in or two just for sh*ts and giggles.

I love playing live more than I do online but I have only managed to find tournaments to play up here. I might just trek on down there one weekend.

OceanJewel sounds good Robert, I'll look into it. Do you know if they have a website? Or what the telephone number is?

I will see if I can find some contact info. for you on the Jewel. Also, the Jewel has $3/$6 tables not just the bigger tables. And, I beleieve in your first post you said the Hard Rock has $1/$2 tables-they actually have straight $2 tables also and the pots on these tables are routinely 50-60 buckes and commonly over $125. especially on Friday and Saturday nights when you will see lots of pre-flop capping w/7-9 players seeing the flop .The Tampa Bay Downs racetrack also has a card room(I am heading there for the first time in about 1 hour).Their website is tampabaydowns.com and the have $2 tables, multi table $35 buy-in NL tourneys daily and also $45 buy in single table NL tourneys running aways.Hope this helps.

JMP300z, I know of a few games in Athens from www.homepokergames.com, check there if you haven't already. I'm in Milledgeville, where Georgia College and Georgia Military College is, if you know where that is.

Oh and thanks for the info on the Seminole and the Jewel. These $2 straight tables, how do those work again?

The bet is $2 on all 4 betting rounds with a 4 bet max per round. The most you can have invested in 1 hand is $32.00($2.00 x4 bets x 4 rounds).I was very impressed with the Tampa Bay Downs (www.tampabaydowns.com) card room when I went Saturday. The employees(even the pit bosses) were nice, there is no smoking in the card room and if you are there during the day you can take a break and watch the Thouroughbreds race. They have single table 11 man toureys starting about every hour and they are currently doing a $35 buy in NL multi-table tourney every day starting at 12 noon. They take up to 100 players in the tourney and I believe they only take $2 out for the house and all the rest goes back to the players.A full tourney pays $1,000.00 to 1st place and pays down through 9th.They are open Tues.-Sun. 12pm-12am.I have played at The Hard Rock a bunch and I liked Tamp Bay Downs better.Good Luck.
