Gulf Coast Casinos Advise, Please

I wanted to go to Tunica (thanks, everyone for the great responses to my earlier request for info) and my wife is agreeable (she probably sees it as my Christmas present), but she wants to take a trip the first week of January (the 5th thru the 9th), and Tunica that week would seem not the best choice for my introduction to casino poker.

So -- Can I get some advise on the various casinos along the gulf coast? I don't want to go as far west as New Orleans. Is the area basically Biloxi to Gulfport? Things like atmosphere, helpful dealers (for noobies), poker rates for rooms, food, comps, etc. will be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for lower limit games, btw.

I don't know about the Gulf Coast but there are several rooms in Tunica that aren't at the Gold Strike / Horseshoe (where the WPT events will be taking place). You don't have to be involved in the madness if you don't want to be...
