His call is questionable, but he's a big stack and maybe reads you for a steal or naybe he's just a maniac and thats how he got his stack. Still it doesn't matter. Your play on this hand was terrible.

Why check the flop? It's a scary board but you need to find out where you are. Then you call his 1000 bet on the turn? What did you put him on at this point? Right now you are behind AA, KK, 99, 88, 77, 66, 55, 44, and A9. Then on the river you are also behind 33. The only reasonable hands you have beat are TT and JJ. So why would did you go all in on the river? You did not even consider the straight/set possibilities?

My suggestion would be to work out a range of hands that your opponent could possibly have. How many of them beat you and how many of them do you beat? In this case 9 out of 11 have you beat. I would have folded on the turn.

yah...don't risk your whole stack on one pair when there's 4 to a st8 on the board and your checking opponent suddenly grows some balls and goes all in.

In addition - looks to me like you barely doubled the pot. If I read this right, there was 650 in there, and you added 1000 more -

I'd at least triple that baby - go 2000

What's with the flop check? Also, if you want any meaningful don't post any results until after the analysis is given; don't say "what do you think of him calling off so much of his stack with such a crappy hand." Sounds a lot like a bad beat story. Just leave results out.

Best thing to do after busting out on this is to pop open a cold one and register for the next tourney.

You were losing that hand no matter what, so little you can do.

That said, I hate the flop check. He could easily have 4 cards to a str8. I make a strong bet (75-125% of pot)there. I don't think I get away from a raise all-in but if you do, all the power to you, after all you can give him credit for a set, even if you don't put him on a str8.
