Default Big bettors

What is the best strategy against a big bettor, I am not talking about a bluffer, I mean someone that constantly makes you pay hefty prices to see the flop, 4th street and the river, no matter what they are holding? I play against a couple of people that win a lot of pots by just throwing in a pile of chips everytime and if I am not holding anything, I can't see a reason to take the chance and call.
But I hate seeing those chips pile up for someone else!

Um.....

if you are reasonably sure you have the best hand...call. If you aren't, fold.

Every so often, if you think he's bluffing, raise him with a half-decent hand. See what he does.

The best strategy against a loose player like this pretty much, for simplicity, comes down to two basic rules:

1) only play strong starting hands
2) check-raise if he's on you're left, smile if he's on you're right
