Limping PP, raised behind, 6max, 25NL
Hello Small Stakes No-Limit Gurus!
I'm still on my quest to transform myself from a limit robot to a NL ninja. The question of the day is how to respond when limping in with small PPs early/middle and being raised behind. Assume the conditions are 25NL, 6max, evenish stacks, nothing unusual in the betting/raising. My scattered thoughts: 1) I can expect to flop a set 1 in 8 times. That 1 time will have to pay for the other 7 tries. If I'm raised behind by big enough stacks, that seems possible. 2) I'm out of position so if I don't set on the flop, I'll be bluffing. This seems okay on 9-high uncoordinated rags. 3) I'm not comfortable laying my hands down to a raise because it makes my other hands easier to read. 4) Okay, maybe I'm not in this precarious situation so much in 6max, but it stills seems to make it expensive waiting for the set or bluff scenarios. Re: Limping PP, raised behind, 6max, 25NL
if you have a mid pocket pair and you believe preflop raiser has overs. you definitely have implied odds to call if his preflop raise is less than 5% of either his or your stack (whichever is less) but you don't have implied odds to call if his preflop raise is more than 10% of the lower stack.
if its between 5% and 10%, decide according to position, read on whether he would pay you off if you hit set, etc... |

One place 5/10 is mentioned is R&C p65. In their example, they point out your position just to the right of the raiser is optimal. Also, that the raiser is your likely "target" and needs to have plenty of money.
