Default Okay, are my swings too wild, or what?

Just read another post about a 'horrible' 100 BB downswing. I don't get it. That is a normal day for me. Seriously.

I have a 100+ BB downswing every 3 or 4 days. Almost every single session will see me up or down 50-60 BBs. Often many times. Like, +50, -40, +30, -35, +25. Almost every day!

I have been through like 3 200+ BB downswings and one that was around 300.

I don't play loose. I am not overly aggressive. But I have to wonder when I see all these posts talking about 100 or even 200 BBs like it is a big number, if I am doing something wrong.

Am I too swingy? If so, what could be the cause? Or is this perfectly normal?

Stuff is pretty normal, but it doesn't make a lot of sense that you would be up or down 50-60 BB or more every day. Some days you're going to break even.

Sorry. I wasn't clear. I meant that during the session I will be up or down 50-60 BBs at some point, often several 50-60 BB swings in both directions every session. Yes, there are some days I call it quits at around break-even.

How long do you play each day, and how many tables are you playing?

If you use pokertracker, what are you standard deviation, and VPIP%?

Sessions are usually around 4 to 5 hours. Once in a while 7 or 8. I play 3 or 4 tables of 2/4 or 3/6. I aim for 800 hands a day.

My VP$IP is 18.12 for all levels and hands. At 2/4 it is 18.17, at 3/6 it is 17.16. Standard deviation is 16.02 BB/100

I think this is way too high to be experience 100 BB swings each day, multitabling or not...

You may be doing something wrong....
but hey in the short term anything can happen...

Playing 800 hands per day, your daily SD should be around 45 big bets. That means that on 2/3 of the day, your final result should be within 45 big bets of your expected result. That means on 1/3 of the days, your final result should have a larger swing that 45 big bets. You might be running through a period of extra volatility right now, where you experience bad swings, and good swings at the same time on a couple of your tables. I don't think that your experience is too far out of line, given the amount of hands, and amount of tables that you are playing.

Look at sfer's poll, you are playing a lot more hands than most players here.
