Default Quick PF question

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $1.
CO calls, 2 folds, BB calls, UTG calls, Hero (poster) raises, CO calls, BB calls, UTG calls.

After I did this I got to thinking it probably wasn't my brightest moment to create a big pot out of position against multiple opponents with a vulnerable and difficult to play hand. Do I have the pot equity here to raise? If I do, is it large enough to justify a raise PF, or should I usually wait and see what the flop brings before I put more money in?

Converter is messed up.

I'd raise on the button after two callers, probably, but if I had any reason to think that the BB would defend, or if there were more callers, then I'm just calling. 88 isn't a monster. Hell, after three callers I probably don't raise with TT. (Not saying I shouldn't, but I don't.)

Yeah, converter is messed up.

UTG limps, two folds, button limps, SB completes, I raise and all call.

The converter may be messed up, but the EDIT function certainly isn't....

I'm thinking you are the Small Blind in this messed up history. CO & Button limp. Raising is ok by me.

oops! So UTG & Button limp. SB calls. Hero in BB raises 88.
I really misread it. Thought there were only 2 other's in.
We gotta get that converter fixed.

I'll raise here most of the time but call sometimes too. I guess I just don't know what to do. Better ask someone else.

Call me weak-tight but I don't raise this. With three others in the hand, you'll probably need a set to win. And if you make the pot bigger, you'll give people more reason to hang out to the river with overcards (assuming you get your ideal non-set flop).

To be honest I don't raise here without JJ or better, but I'm sure you could make a case for doing it with at least TT. 88, though? Usually you're going to need a set -- you're hurting your implied odds by raising.
