Carolina vs Philly bet question...
Just a quick question...
Would anyone take this bet: Caroline at 2.10, +7.5.? That is, let's say if you bet $100 on Carolina, you get 7.5 points and get paid $210 if you win. Some sort of money-line/spread bet I guess. Regardless of who is going to cover, does this type of bet have any value? Any thoughts appreciated, thanks. |

Re: Carolina vs Philly bet question...
This would only make sense to me if the original line was +14 or something and someone was offering some sort of moneyline/odds split.
Otherwise it looks as if you are confusing the moneyline (increased payout on the underdog if bet for an outright win without points) and the spread line (usually -110 as juice regardless of favorite). |

Re: Carolina vs Philly bet question...
I think that the big part of the confusion here is that the original poster is showing the bet with "European" odds. These odds are much more common in soccer and need to be translated to the more common +/- that we are used to.
The translation here works out to +110. The $210 the original poster explained includes the return of the amount wagered. In essence, the bet allows you to sell 1.5 points for a benefit of +20 (assuming the current line of +9 -110 that I just looked up). I know that I have to pay more than 20 to buy 1.5 points, so I don't really like the wager that much. |

Re: Carolina vs Philly bet question...
yeah exactly, sorry for the confusion.
it would be +110 and +7.5 at the same time. so basically, you're giving up +1.5 in order to negate the juice and get paid a bonus 10% on your bet. I doubt I'm going to take this, but it seems like an alright play if one were to back Carolina. I found this at ladbrokes, they sometimes have some funny lines. Like having the same spread as the vegas books, but offering no juice. It all depends on who you want to bet on I guess. Is this common for offshore/european books when it comes to the NFL? |

Re: Carolina vs Philly bet question...
Most books will have some kind of adjusted line bet in their props for the game. Usually, the adjusted lines have a tendency for you to sell points cheaply through a key number like 3 or 7. I am somewhat surprised that the adjusted line wasn't for +6.5 +130. I checked a couple of different sites that have a prop for +3.5 +200, so similar bets are readily available.
A bet at +7.5 +110 is only worthwhile if you determine that the liklihood of 8 or 9 is very small or you really think that 7 is the number. My biggest problem with the bet is that the price isn't good. |
