Default Cops bust $20 home game

Daily Illini

This is a column, does anybody know if this really happened? I find it kind of hard to believe.

Excellent. Just like the "War on drugs" that accomplishes nothing. More money wasted.

I read it. Seems like propagandist BS. I hope that Chicago PD has more important things to do.

edit: it's not on the "police blotter" in the same issue

As a newspaper guy, just wanted to point out that papers generally don't put an item in the police blotter if there's a separate story on it elsewhere in the paper.

whats more ironic is that cops proabalby play more "home" poker than everyone else. bunch of hypocrits. i cant wait to see a cop game get busted one of these days. most likely not though, cause what cop would rat another cop out?

Once again, I find myself horrified by the audacity and idiocy of the system.

Yes this really happened. I have played a few times with the guy that wrote the original article in the Tribune. It is very sad that they go and bust a $20 buy in home game. I was also at a tournament in Chicago that got raided by Cook County vice cops. It is pretty ridiculous. There are not even any casinos in chicago that the home games are competing against, so the city isn't losing out on any tax dollars.
