Default Phil and Annie on UB

Do you think that Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth have to play a certain amount of time every month on UB or something? Maybe to get their name out or make other UB players feel special. Phil has bene playing the 25 cent/50 cent LIMIT game on UltimateBet. Everyone at the table has like 20 bucks and he buys in for 1000. Now I am just trying to decide if this is some stupid ego thing he is doing, or if he wants to show off, or if he just being a jackass or MAYBE he has to play a certain amount and doesn't want to risk a lot of cash.

The chat box when he is playing is ridiculous. Seriously dozens of people asking him stupid questions, insulting him, telling him he is great, everything. I swear one guy yesterday said something like this:

BillyBob: Phil, please, just say my name, just type it one time.
BillyBob: Come on Phil, just type "BillyBob", I am your biggest fan.

Gimme a break.

I would say they get paid to endorse UB. I would also venture to guess that they have to play a certain amount of time to get the $$$.

I think that is accurate. I still don't understand why he would play such low limits though. Why not play higher to work of his "hands/month(week, whatever)"? Unless he feels he's not capable of beating such games, which I highly doubt.

When he starts a table it fills up immediately at low limits. After a bit he'll start up another table then another. The micro limit players love bragging that they got to play against Phil Hellmuth.

It has nothing to do with him being able to beat the higher limit games.

Yeah, it is better publicity if people can afford to play at the same table. Same with Full Tilt and all the pros playing in those games.

What difference is it to Hellmuth whether he plays 30/60 or .25/.50. Impact on his bankroll is probably nil for both. So why not play low/micro limit sometimes so the guppies get a chance to play with Phil? Those are the players more likely to get excited about such a thing anyway.

Phil probably loves the attention he gets at those tables.

I witnessed the following exchange at Phil's table.

Observer1 (obs): man bestplayer, phil only has $996 to give u
bestplayer: lol
Observer1 (obs): i guess phil is afraid to buy in for more than 1k
Observer1 (obs): lol
bestplayer: no need to be greedy
Observer1 (obs): phil is setting a good example, he always buys short when the game is tough
Observer2 (obs): do u ever feel guilty takin money from amatures?phil
Observer2 (obs): jk
PhilHellmuth: hell no, i probably lose more at these lowlimit tables than i win
PhilHellmuth: because of the erratic play
Observer1 (obs): that's right phil, these guys play so bad that they beat u
Observer1 (obs): cause it is impossible to beat bad players
(phil sits out)
Observer1 (obs): oh now i have chased phil away
PhilHellmuth: okay all gotta cruise... great playing with you all!
PhilHellmuth: and best of luck

... later, a seat opens up, and Observer1 sits down with $2k

Observer1: I am TWICE as cool as Phil!

I am pretty sure that it is in Phil and Annie's endorsement contract to get some time in at the low limits. I am absolutely sure that the .5/1 players are much more awed of Phil than the 30/60 players would be. I am less sure, but others have said, that Phil would be a loser in the 30/60 game.
