Default Poker Rates for Vegas Hotels?

I am trying to plan a trip to Las Vegas in October with some friends. A few of us play poker quite a bit, and I have heard about the special poker rates some places will offer you.

I plan on calling some of the hotels to get the actual rates, but had a few questions for those that have tried these 'deals' before:

1) How long do you typically have to play each day or in total for your stay to qualify for the poker rate?

2) What are the best hotels in terms of quality of the room in relation to the poker rate?

3) Are there any other perks to the poker rate besides a discount on the hotel room price?

4) Bottom line: who do you think has the best deal?

Any comments/experiences would be appreciated. I will be there with a group of people for a birthday celebration... so I do have a limit on the amount of poker I can play. That said, I think I can probably manage 2-3 hours a day. Or maybe one full 8-hour day of poker or something..

Last time I went, my favorite card room was the Mirage...

Thanks,

J.

Usually they require 4~5 hours per day.

How much time will you spend in the room really?

Some hotels give you running water and a bed I hear.

It all really depends on what else you are looking for in a hotel/casino. My best advice is to call around to places like the Orleans, Nugget, horseshoe, montecarlo, Excalibur, Mirage, and Bellagio and see what they will give/offer you.

Sorry about the smart a$$ remarks, just brining some humor to the table as well, hehe.

When you call the Hotel, ask to speak to the Poker room if you want to know about the Poker rate for rooms.

If you do 2-3 hours a day plus a longer session thrown in there that should be more than enough.

I personally think the Poker Rate at the Mandalay Bay and the Belagio are generally reasonable for the top class hotels. I stay at the Mandalay Bay pretty much exclusively when I am there.

my 2 cents

This advice of course depends on what limits you will play and what type of place you like to stay at and IF there is a convention durign when you are staying.

Imperial Palace and Barbary coast are mid strip, right near both Bellagio and Mirage...less than a two block walk to either place or a 5 minute, $5 cab ride. IP and BC are far cheaper than any other strip hotels and you have the easy decision of the best two card rooms in Vegas. The cost of a room at IP is going to be cheaper than the poker rate at either Bellagio or Mirage.
