Laying down KK preflop (I know , I know)
I kinda hijacked CDC thread and apologize so I wanted to start a new one.
2nd time in my life that Ive done it. Can anyone else do it? Game is 1-2 NL FTP. Bunky has 280.00 Villain has 250.00 Both players know each other and respect each other and have about 10k hands together. Villain open raises to 7 in EP. 1 caller in MP, Bunky makes it 30.00 with KK. Folded back to villain who insta pushes for his stack. MP folds. What do you do?? Ive seen this guy cold call my raises with KK and QQ. I Knew he had AA. I just knew it. So what I'm supposed to call with KK because that's what I'm supposed to do? Nope I folded them. He showed AA. No, I'm not acting like Hellmuth, but sometimes you just KNOW when yu're up against the nuts. |

Re: Laying down KK preflop (I know , I know)
I've folded KK twice preflop that I can recollect. I was showed AA both times.
However, there were plenty of times where I pushed KK and was shown AA too. But hey, I saved like 350 bucks on those two other hands though right? |

What about all the times you get shown NOT AA. For every time I get shown AA, I get shown some other hand like AK, QQ-22 about 5 times.

Re: Laying down KK preflop (I know , I know)
Thats why Ive only laid it down twice. I had a solid read both times. I was correct both times. For you to just say push with KK when you KNOW your opponent has AA because thats what you are supposed to do is not good poker. Thats playing by the "book". I prefer to take my hands on a case by case basis. My Kings were no good there and I wasn't getting the odds to call for my 2 outer. So I folded.
Blindly just pushing with KK with deep stacks in NL is just assinine. |

Yeah what else does he push with? I would say nothing, so lay it down with the read.

That's not my point. My point is that the situations where you can lay down KK preflop are so rare and unique that it's kind of silly to put so much thought into the scenario. It's like practicing a golf shot where you have to hit the ball off the head of motherless albino tiger. |

(I have a tendency to come off that way) I hope no offense was taken. Its just sometimes when youve played with someone a lot. You just know when they're betting the pure nuts at you. Agree? |

Re: Laying down KK preflop (I know , I know)
I like it. There are some situations when it's almost impossible for your opponent to have anything but AA. I've laid them down three times and been correct each time. It's not like practicing a golf shot you'll never use either, it's a situation where you have the second nuts, and you could very well be up against the nuts.

Re: Laying down KK preflop (I know , I know)
Why did you post this? You have 10K hands with this player, you say you knew he had AA - so, well played. Next.
