Default Best place to play poker

I want opinions on those that play a lot of live poker. Where do you think the best place (surrounding area included) to play live poker is. Some support for your answer will be appreciated. (i.e location, community, atmosphere, entertainment, alternate activities, style of living, etc.)

Los Angeles. Great weather, best games in the world, very culturally diverse, and you can find just about any sort of entertainment you need there except for NFL games

I live within 2 hours of Foxwoods and, in my opinion, it is LA and its not even close.

Travel for work and have played often at Commerce. Just incredible action and tons of games to choose from.

Plus its California, many great points to living there.

The traffic is a downer, but since your best poker times are off hours, it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Or you could choose the Bay Area - same attributes. While I've never played in LA, it's hard to imagine that they're much better than here. Plus we have real honest-to-God NFL games, or if you'd prefer you can see the Raiders instead.

LA over the Bay Area, and it's not even close. LA has bigger games, better games (yes, even better than up here), more variety (imagine, they play stud bigger than 4-8), better food, better weather, and better looking (female) casino workers.

Well for me it's L.A. and Las Vegas.

1. L.A. card rooms are huge, the waiting time is short to get on a table. If you are looking for strictly game playing, then L.A. would be my first choice. I consider L.A. "The Poker Capital of the World" There are plenty of recreational things to do in the area, but you will have to put up with the traffic and learn your way around the freeways. There are no babes that hang out in L.A. casinos. In fact I find the female count in the casinos to be very low. There are no babes who work in these casinos either, so if you are out on a babe hunt, you will have to do this in other places in the area [try the clubs in Manhattan Beach]. Entertainment venues are numerous, but you have to drive. Nevertheless, a well planned out vacation mixed in with your card playing can exceed the pleasures of Las Vegas. As an example, we did Catalina Island, Disney with a Huey Lewis concert, Big Bear, and played at Commerce. We also did some fine dining in the Orange County area. We were lodged in Anaheim. Again, driving/traffic was the big drawback.

2. In Las Vegas the card rooms are smaller, and you may have a longer wait, especially if you are playing low stakes. It's more difficult to get into stud games also. However, there are plenty of babes floating around, and all the entertainment venues are very close by. On our last trip there in November we played at Binion's and Bellagio. For entertainment we did a Jewel concert, "O", Showgirls of Magic, and a Grand Canyon Helicopter tour. We were lodged at Bellagio. Absolutely no traffic hassles when compared to L.A.

Cheers,

Mike

Small sample size, but the weekend Commerce 40-80 played like a San Jose 20-40 game. And if you want to play limit games bigger than 20-40 you have much more selection down there than the 0, 1, or 2 40-80 and the 0 or 1 80-160 game going up here at any given time.

I love the Bay, but if I had to rely on playing B&M poker day in and day out for income I'd move down there, no question.

The best place to play, by far IMO, Is the Horseshoe In Tunica, Ms. At least it used to be.

They charge you $25 for a room per night, will pick you up at the airport, and they comp you for every meal. They have a variety of games, and they routinely spread a strong 20-40 HE game.

Of course, this may have all changed. I haven't been there since January. So, who knows.
