wats the correct play here?
Ive found myslef in this situation before and have no clue what to do.
You look down at a 10-3 offsuit in big blind and check. In a 10 person game, you have 4 others seeing the flop besides you. The flop comes T 4 8 rainbow. What is good to do when you are in a late or early position?? Should you bet out because you know if a J Q K or A hits you are probably beat by someone? or should you check and hope to get another card to match your T or 3? If a minimum bet is placed, do I just call or raise? Thanks in advance [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] |

Re: wats the correct play here?
TPNK, and not much of a TP to boot. I'd definitely bet out here, but I'd fold to a raise. If you're called and no overcards hit on the turn, you can fire again or check, depending on how loose you think your opponent is (most times, I'd check/call).

Re: wats the correct play here?
I beleive this is where Reverse Implied Odds come into question.
I like to check-fold if someone bets, or bet the turn if no scare card hits. The problem with the hand is that you maybe already dominated with anybody having T with a better kicker. |

That's not huge, but I think this pot is worth fighting for. You likely have the best hand now, but few cards on the turn are safe. A flop bet won't protect your hand. I think I check, planning to call an early position bet or raise a late position bet. If a relatively innocuous card comes on the turn, I bet (or even check-raise, depending on just what happened on the flop). If a scare card comes (which is to say anything above a 6, especially an overcard) then I check and call an early bet, fold to a late bet (and fold to a raise). If I managed to get heads-up on the flop, then I am seeing the showdown regardless. |
